Year In Review: Final’s Favorite Media Moments from 2020

2020 started with a bang. We welcomed a new decade and anticipated a year full of laughter, road trips, and celebrations. While the year definitely didn’t go as planned, there have been  plenty of silver linings. Here are a few of our most newsworthy moments from 2020.

When Reviewed (USA Today) named FinalStraw “The Best Overall Reusable Straw of 2020” on January 1, we were off to a great start!

With a nod to environmentalism, VSCO girls took over high fashion and accessorized with reusable straws. ELLE magazine included FinalStraw in their coveted VSCO girl starter pack.

FinalStraw being deemed an eco-friendly essential by Condé Nast Traveler--one of our dream publications--was certainly a highpoint!. We were absolutely delighted when a few of our favorite content creators, eco-communicators, educators, and sustainability experts recommended FinalStraw as the best reusable straw while chatting with The Strategist.

Final was included in lots of amazing roundups too -- from Esquire, to HGTV, to Mashable, Business Insider, Forbes, USA Today, Good Housekeeping, and beyond.

Forbes covered the FinalWipe Kickstarter launch--a product we’re excited to start delivering in early 2021--and BuzzFeed created a video about FinalWipe!

BiggieStraw was big news in Eating Well and Hypebeast.

The long awaited debut of FinalCutlery was forking amazing! Delish said FinalFork was ideal for anyone taking a picnic or grabbing takeout. Bon Appétit called FinalSpork “the season’s must-have accessory” and Pack Hacker published an in-depth review of FinalSpork, suggesting it could be “the end all be all of cutlery.”

We ended the year by landing coverage in few more of our dream publications! Vogue included FinalSpork in their holiday roundup of “gifts that do good” and our team did happy dances from California to Florida and at all of our remote home offices in between. Cosmopolitan suggested FinalStraw as an eco-friendly gift idea for the earth lovers in your life (which should be everyone) and InStyle listed FinalSpork among their gifts that “everyone will be fighting over.” BuzzFeed created yet another forking (or sporking) epic video about FinalFork & FinalSpork, too!

Throughout the year, we had the opportunity to share more than just our products with the press. Even before remote work became the norm (you know, before the pandemic), Emma Rose Cohen, our CEO & Founder was interviewed by the Associated Press and shared what it takes to run a remote company--information that became sought after less than a month later. She shared more of her favorite tips for working remotely with the world in a listicle in Swaay

In a thought piece for Forbes, Emma challenged business leaders to rethink, redesign, and reimagine recycling because the future of the planet is in our hands. Emma gave a virtual TEDx Talk that focused on the secret to beating the plastic pandemic and brought light to the fact that waste is just a design flaw.

As a small business, 2020 was far from easy. These articles brightened our days and were a big part of what kept us pushing forward. Single-use plastic piled up more than we expected this year, but we aren’t going to let that get us down. Together, we can change our habits. Reusables are the future. Are you ready to live even more sustainably in 2021?
